Brochure Printing

If you run a small business and are launching an advertising campaign using brochure printing, you will no doubt be worried about the costs. Of course, you will also be wondering how to lower these costs. It’s easy to find incredible prices for both brochure design and printing services, however, there are many things to consider that will influence the cost.

What size should the brochures be?

One of the first things people ask themselves is “What size brochures do I want?”.This option is extremely important depending on your chosen distribution method. If you will be mass mailing your brochures, having a brochure that is larger than standard letter size can cost considerably more to mail, however, it will stand out above all of the other mail in the mailbox the day it is received. Additionally, the number of pages (or folds) you use in your brochure along with the grade of paper, can determine your postage rates. The safest bet is to try and choose a standard size that is small enough to keep costs low while still being large enough to attract attention from your target audience in your chosen display setting. The most highly used sizes are 8.5×11 Trifold Brochures and 11×17 Trifold Brochures.

Stick to a regular shape

Although many people like quirky advertising and it may be tempting to use a non-standard shape for your brochures this can drastically increase the price. For example, a home insurance company may well want to use a house-shaped brochure to advertise their services, but since this shape will have to be custom made by the printer, it will almost certainly cost more. Just because the brochures are rectangular doesn’t mean that they have to be boring. You can find other ways to spice them up.

Sense of New Media

By now, most advertisers have figured out that all of the “new media” is still subject to the same old disciplines. The internet is a tremendous marketing tool, but as we learned with newspaper, TV, and radio, it only works when it is part of a marketing strategy that has the main goal of bringing in business.

If you plan on using any new media, you still need to follow some basic rules. Attracting attention, appealing to the consumer’s self-interest, and building a positive brand image is always a winning formula. And just as you did with print, TV and radio, you’ll need to integrate your message across any new media you use. Simply put, say the same thing everywhere.

New media and the web in particular have forever altered how consumers shop. You’re missing a tremendous opportunity if not on-line. To give you an idea of how the web has changed consumer behavior, consider the following:
- 74% of all adults are online everyday
- Searching for information & communicating are the top reasons why people are online
- In December 2008, Google reported over 2 billion searches each day
- 35% of adults actively participate in “social networking”
- 37% of all adults report getting most of their news online
- 29% report their ONLY source of news is from online providers

Unlike traditional mediums that tend to move like a tortoise, the web changes by the minute. Right now, the major search engines are becoming video players. Sporting events, concerts, movies and your favorite program can be viewed virtually anywhere, at any time. All this is very exciting yet challenging for marketers. Exciting in that we can communicate and do business with customers 24/7. Challenging due to the fact that consumers are in control.

Green Printing

Nowadays people are more environmentally conscious. They are keen to protect the earth from the damage that mankind has done. Companies have realized the need for running responsible business. They prove not only economical but deliver noticeable results. Companies have reported that being green results in huge cost savings. Green printing is resorted to reduce carbon footprint on Earth. It is high time that human beings started behaving kind towards Mother Earth. There are several ways to achieve this.

Inks:

Traditionally petroleum based inks were used in printing process. Green printing preaches the use of vegetable-based or soy inks to replace petroleum based inks. Soy inks are created by refining soybean oil. Then the refined oil is combined with resins, waxes and pigments to obtain the desired consistency and color. This oil demands less pigments to provide the desired colors. Therefore it is less harmful. It is also clearer that the petroleum-based oils. These inks are removable from paper.

Paper:

Going green can be made easy by using Eco-friendly paper. These papers are 100% recyclable. Another advantage of these Eco-friendly papers are that they are not processed with chlorine. Recycling requires an amount of unused pulp. Therefore pulps from farms that have sustainable trees are used for this purpose. This constricts the usage of pulps from old growth forests and thereby being Eco-friendly. Three are tree-free papers available in the market. The papers of this kind are made from plan waste such as, banana, coconut and papaya trees. There are papers made from natural chalk. They are called as stone/rock papers.

Power:

Green printing needs power like any other printing facility. But they might not necessarily need the same type of energy as required by the traditional printing. Most of them run on wind power. This reduces the negative impact made on the environment in huge folds. Many companies are concerned about their carbon footprint. CO2 is produced in excess amounts when paper is recycled. It is an astonishing fact that 4 trees are cut for the production of recycled paper that weighs a ton. Therefore this is a vital area that many green companies target. They opt for recycled paper and reduce carbon footprint.

Advertising Companies Do You Need One?

As your business grows, so will your need to provide more advertising for your company. The costs increase and the time it takes to actually get all of the advertising done, can be very time consuming. With all of the advertising companies out there, your efforts will not have to be wasted any longer.

There are multiple advertising companies that you can choose from and your needs can vary depending on how large your target market is. Each company has multiple specialists that cover the field of advertising and their skills range from local to national to international niches.

Do checks on the company that you hire and make sure that they fit your budget range. When it comes right down to it, you have to trust the advertising company to do its job and get it done effectively. Let their creativity flow and do not put any, if at all, restraints on them. That could restrict their “blood flow to the brain”. If they are not allowed to think outside the box, then you might not be getting your monies worth.

When you hand over the amount of money that you are willing to spend on advertising, the trust that you put in to the company should pull through. This is all depending on that the company has been in the game for awhile and has a grip on the markets that they are targeting.

If your business is small and you decide to go with local advertising, picking a small advertising company could not only save you money, but have added benefits as well. The company could have ties with the local market, shops and to people of general interest (that are high up or respected in the community). They could know the ins and outs of what makes your local community tick, or they might have a special niche that makes them unique to advertising in a certain field (as in, they have more experience than others or are the only ones that advertise in that field).
